Hi, welcome to solsarin site, today we want to talk about“is samsung and lg the same company”,

thank you for choosing us.

is samsung and lg the same company?

NO.They are both successful SOUTH KOREAN ELECTRONICS COMPANIES but they are separate companies. It wouldn’t make sense for one company to have two different brands that sell similar things and deal with more liabilities.

They are not the same company, but the use the same assemblycompany in Korea and the parts that are installed in both machineshave very similar OEM numbers. They also use the same warrantyservice companies to service their machines. and both Koreanbuilt machines. Side by side LG and Samsung with similar optionsare basically the same machine with a different interface LED orselector switches. Same hardware, but not the same company.

The rivalry between Korean tech giants LG and Samsung is well known, but it took a visit to LG’s headquarters in South Korea this week for the true nature of the conflict to become clear to us.

Both Seoul-based, the two companies have been in competition for nearly 50 years, and they’re somewhat obsessed with one another. We’ve all read the stories about the skullduggery between them: secrets have allegedly been stolen, accusations have been made, court cases have dragged on. Even in the last few weeks, the companies have re-locked horns in patent disputes over their OLED technologies.

Police recently raided some Samsung facilities in order to secure evidence after LG accused its neighbour of spying. It’s a familiar story in these parts.

The upshot of the situation is that passing through buildings owned by these companies is like getting through security at an airport. Bags are scanned. Cameras are confiscated. Lenses on phones are taped over. USB storage devices are not allowed. Security cameras are everywhere.

The entrance lobbies are full of metal detectors and bag scanners just like departure lounges, but unlike an airport, you don’t have to worry about this on the way in – it’s on the way back out again that the stringent security measures are deployed. They want to make sure you’re not trying to steal any secrets. As a visitor, it’s a fascinating curiosity. For the people who work here, it’s just everyday routine.

We’re currently travelling on a bus heading north towards the border with North Korea. This is where LG’s enormous LCD plant is based. We’re due to take a tour and we’ve already been told to expect even more stringent security measures when we get there.

It’s not hugely surprising – both companies are leading innovation in display technology and seem to be zigging and zagging in unison. Both are bringing out similar products at the same time. Which Korean brand brought the “world’s first curved OLED TV” to CES this year? Both of them, naturally.

Why you’d want one is up for debate, especially given that only 200 standard OLED TV have been sold by LG total in Korea – but LG says the curved version will hit the shelves later this year regardless.

They’ll be available first at the LG Best Shop megastore in downtown Seoul, which appropriately looms ominously right across the road from the equally sized Samsung superstore.

Samsung

Samsung Electronics may be best known as the maker of Galaxy cell phones, but the Korean company also makes a number of Samsung branded ‘smart’ household appliances, including cooktops, refrigerators, wall ovens, microwave ovens, and laundry machines, as well.

In the summer of 2016, Samsung acquired the Dacor brand of American-made luxury appliances. Dacor is the only appliance brand to be endorsed by chefs at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary institute in Paris, France. High-end appliances that are made by Dacor in California include refrigeration units, cooktops, and wine preservation systems. According to Investopedia, Dacor became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics at a cost of around $150 million.

Electronics

Samsung first entered the electronics industry in 1969 with several electronics-focused divisions. Their first products were black-and-white televisions. During the 1970s the company began to export home electronics products overseas. At that time Samsung was already a major manufacturer in Korea, and it had acquired a 50 percent stake in Korea Semiconductor.

The late 1970s and early ’80s witnessed the rapid expansion of Samsung’s technology businesses. Separate semiconductor and electronics branches were established, and in 1978 an aerospace division was created. Samsung Data Systems (now Samsung SDS) was established in 1985 to serve businesses’ growing need for systems development. That helped Samsung quickly become a leader in information technology services. Samsung also created two research and development institutes that broadened the company’s technology line into electronics, semiconductors, high-polymer chemicals, genetic engineering tools, telecommunications, aerospace, and nanotechnology.

today samsung

Today, Samsung remains a force to be reckoned with. It has been granted more US patents than any other company in the world. In 2020, it had the eighth highest global brand value. With revenue equal to 17% of South Korea’s GDP and with its affiliate companies making a fifth of the country’s total exports, it is synonymous with South Korea and one of the greatest influences on its economy.

Samsung’s story remains an example for many other companies to follow — if you want to achieve global greatness, you need to make radical changes and learn when to expand.

LG

LG is a multinational appliance manufacturing conglomerate that began as the Rak-Hui (pronounced “Lucky”) Chemical Industrial Corporation in 1947. Today, LG manufactures a variety of appliances for the kitchen, laundry, and other household uses. Air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, and LED lighting solutions are also part of the LG repertoire of products.

As long as people prefer convenience overtoil, ease-making household appliances will continue to be part of our lifestyle. And, as long as appliances exist, they will occasionally break down and require repair. If you sign up for a one- or three-week appliance repair course, you can learn skills and earn certificates that will put you at the head of the line for well-paying employment opportunities.

In the smart TV market, most brands borrow technology and software from other companies. It’s easier and much less expensive. But both LG and Samsung have developed their smart TVs from scratch.

LG manufactures OLED displays, which are considered to be the best in terms of color and contrast. Samsung still uses QLED technology, which can’t quite match OLED for picture quality. However, QLED TVs are giving tough competition to OLED TVs in 2020. It has been observed that the most expensive QLED TVs are performing better than the cheaper ones.

This is because the high-end QLEDs come with better full-array local dimming, bright highlights, and better viewing angles, which is absent in the low-end models. This kind of significant difference is missing in OLED TVs, although OLED offers better contrast and black level. Additionally, QLED is also brighter whereas OLED has better uniformity and viewing angles. But one of the most important factors that have made QLED outperform OLED this year is the fact that they are available in bigger sizes that are actually cheaper than expected.

Another unique feature that both Samsung and LG came up with this year is 8K. Both the companies have had promising entries in 8K TVs which not only give you brighter, sharper images but also take your TV experience to the next level.

In 2021, both Samsung and LG seem to be going a step forward with MicroLED and QNED TV displays. These new TVs, announced at CES 2021, are focusing on bigger displays with higher resolution. QNED stands for Quantum Nano-Emitting Diodes and combines quantum dot and NanoCell technologies with LEDs. It’s the display technology used in these newest LG TVs,

and these are the first TVs to use the two technologies together.

LG says that QNED is a huge step forward in LCD picture quality since it uses Mini LEDs as the light source with up to 30,000 Mini

LEDs per panel. This should improve the brightness and contrast of the typical LCD TVs, making the QNED Mini LED TV an interesting option for consumers this year. MicroLED TVs from Samsung, on the other hand, use LED lights to eliminate any backlight and color filters used in conventional displays. Instead, the TV produces light and color from its own pixel. Not to mention that these lights offer a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours.

Another add-on from Samsung in 2021 is split-screen capability that

will give you the opportunity to stream different content in one TV screen at the same time.
