Crock Pot Ranch Chicken Recipe

Growing up in Texas, ranch was just a part of life.  It went on everything from salads to pizza and pretty much anything in between.

As an adult, I learned that this might not be as normal in the rest of the country, but my deep rooted love was already planted.  I have made countless things throughout the years with ranch and find that when you use the seasoning to flavor a dish, it grabs the great flavor even better!

I have shared a lot of well loved Ranch recipes on the blog already like my favorite homemade ranch dressing mix, this bacon ranch chicken, how to make dairy free ranch, Buffalo Ranch Chicken Salad, and even a personal favorites like these Ranch Smashed Potatoes and Barbecue Ranch Chicken Nachos.

Today’s recipe though is really a game changer!  It is one that you can bookmark in your recipe book because it is so perfect for so many things.

CROCK POT RANCH CHICKEN SERVING IDEAS

  • Over a grain- serve a big scoop right on top of rice, quinoa, farro, or your favorite grain.  Offer toppings like chopped green onion, red bell pepper, cheddar cheese, tomato, etc so everyone can customize their bowl.
  • With potatoes- you can put it right on top of a scoop of mashed potatoes or serve it with a side of garlic smashed potatoes.
  • With garlic toast- I think garlic toast goes with everything, but it goes especially well with this Crock Pot Ranch Chicken
  • Pasta- Serve it with a side of pasta salad, or right over top of some pasta tossed with olive oil and garlic.

Crock Pot Garlic Ranch Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced / 1 tablespoon fresh basil minced
  • 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Optional: additional minced fresh basil for sprinkling on top at time of serving

Instructions

  • Mix together your ranch dressing, minced garlic and minced fresh basil
  • Place your chicken in your crock pot
  • Pour your sauce over your chicken
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3
  • Serve with the sauce spooned over the chicken and a sprinkling of fresh basil, if desired

Notes

If you don’t want to mince your garlic, you can chop it, but you will want to bump it up to 1.5 tablespoons instead of 1 tablespoon of minced garlic.

I used my Hamilton Beach Multi-Quart Slow Cooker for this yummy Crock Pot Garlic Ranch Chicken on the 2 qt setting. I liked that I was able to place the chicken across the bottom of the slow cooker in one layer so it was all nicely covered in the sauce.

If you don’t have a multi-quart slow cooker, use a 2-4 quart slow cooker. If I were to use a “normal’ one, I would put the first layer of chicken down, pour a little sauce over and then the next layer with the remaining sauce just to make sure everything had some of the yummy sauce.

Notes

This recipe has cream of chicken soup in it. If you would rather make your own instead of using the store bought stuff, we have a great Homemade Cream Soup Substitute for Recipes that you might want to check out!

Since I was changing things up on this recipe and had never tried it before, I definitely wanted my trusty ol’ Sir Hamilton (my Hamilton Beach Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker) to do the cooking for me. A new recipe can give you surprises sometimes, so I wanted my reliable crock pot for sure! You can use your favorite 5-6 quart slow cooker.

I served this over angel hair pasta with wonderful results. You could eat it without pasta or use your favorite pasta. Make it your own!
