In her brief marriage to first ex-husband Troy Mason, whom she married in 1987, the multiple Grammy award
winner says she was viciously assaulted. But a man, purporting to be the accused has surfaced online, denying
the claims.
Two months ago, in response to a vintage YouTube clip of Adams sharing her survival testimony, the person
alleging to be Mason wrote, “Yolanda is not telling the truth. This never happened.”
Just days ago, the alleged batterer, from whom Adams split in 1990, returned to the YouTube community with a
link to an article riddled with inaccuracies on a website called divorcedebbie.com as validation of his refutation.
“Well I could have been wrong about her talking about me! I just saw something that says she was speaking of
her second husband!” wrote Mason, sharing this link.

In 1997, Adams married former NFL player Tim Crawford. The two had a daughter together—Taylor—and later
divorced.
In the clip in question, Adams tells her audience, “I stand before you tonight having been thrown across [a]

According to Adams, it was the “hand of the Lord” that protected her, “because he only grazed the side of my
face. And when he picked me up to throw me onto a marble floor, not a bone was broken.”

“First of all, I shouldn’t have been in it in the first place, because I knew what kind of person he was in the
beginning,” she further explained—a statement that is consistent with her video testimony.

adorable,’ and all the time he’s beating you in the face, and that’s not cool.”
