With Television South West (TSW), an ITV regional station in Plymouth, England, Langsford began her career as a continuity announcer and newscaster. When Westcountry Television took over the TSW franchise on 1 January 1993, she left the station along with fellow announcer, Ian Stirling, as the station closed.

Early career of Eamonn Holmes

As a journalist, Holmes worked for a Dublin-based business magazine before starting his broadcasting career in 1979. During his time with Ulster Television, the ITV franchise contractor for Northern Ireland, he worked as a reporter and host on the show Farming Ulster. Following that, he worked with Ulster Television’s sports reporters, Leslie Dawes (1922–2014) and Jackie Fullerton, to cover sporting events in the province.

In 1982, Holmes was
tasked with anchoring Ulster Television’s flagship news and current affairs programme Good Evening Ulster, which was a move into news and current affairs reporting. The show was
presented by Gloria Hunniford since its inception in 1979 and Holmes was the third choice to present the show after trial runs by news reporters Gary Gillespie and Gerry Kelly.

In addition to his news and current affairs role, Holmes has also hosted other Ulster Television productions, including Miss Northern Ireland gala specials in 1985 and 1986, as well as the Miss Northern Ireland gala specials in 1985 and 1986. The BBC offered Holmes a position as a presenter for the daytime Open Air program, which was
