Hello and welcome to solsarin. This post is about “garlic linguini alfredo red lobster“.

Lobster

Lobsters are a family (Nephropidae, synonym Homaridae[2]) of large marine crustaceans.

Lobsters have long bodies with muscular tails, and live in crevices or burrows on the sea floor. Three of their five pairs of legs have claws, including the first pair, which are usually much larger than the others. Highly prized as seafood, lobsters are economically important, and are often one of the most profitable commodities in coastal areas they populate.[3]

Commercially important species include two species of Homarus (which look more like the stereotypical lobster) from the northern Atlantic Ocean, and scampi (which look more like a shrimp, or a “mini lobster”) — the Northern Hemisphere genus Nephrops and the Southern Hemisphere genus Metanephrops.

Coloring[edit]

Typically, lobsters are dark colored, either bluish green or greenish brown as to blend in with the ocean floor, but they can be found in a multitude of colors.[12][13] Lobsters with atypical coloring are extremely rare, accounting for only a few of the millions caught every year, and due to their rarity, they usually are not eaten, instead being released back into the wild or donated to aquariums. Often, in cases of atypical coloring, there is a genetic factor, such as albinism or hermaphroditism. Special coloring does not appear to have an effect on the lobster’s taste once cooked; with the exception of albinos, all lobsters possess astaxanthin, which is responsible for the bright red color lobsters turn after being cooked.[14]

Shrimp buying tips for Red Lobster Shrimp Pasta

I like to buy medium-sized wild shrimp. Wild shrimp tastes better than farm-raised shrimp. You can buy fresh or frozen shrimp. If you are using frozen shrimp, make sure it is completely thawed before cooking.

Recipe Notes

People with unfortunate shrimp allergies should avoid this dish. However, what makes our linguini alfredo recipe great is that it can hold its own even without the baby shrimp. Of course, foregoing the shrimp won’t make it an accurate recreation. Nevertheless, rest assured that this pasta dish won’t be any less delicious even without its star ingredient.

Red Lobster Crab Alfredo

  • 4 tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Half-and-half cream ; (heavy cream If you REALLY feel wicked)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese ; (or more to Taste)
  • Salt and white pepper ; (to Taste)
  • Few grains cayenne pepper ; (optional)
  • cooked snow crab meat ; (8 oz. size), Cut into chunks
  • Linguini ; cooked al dente

INSTRUCTIONS

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour, and cook briefly until the mixture looks sandy. Do NOT let it color. Whisk in the half-and-half, and stir until the mixture forms a thick sauce. Stir in the cheese, and season to taste. Simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavors, and stir in the crab meat. Cook JUST until the crab is heated through. Serve over cooked linguini, with additional Parmesan cheese and hot red pepper flakes on the side.

Before some purist jumps me, I KNOW this isn’t a classic Alfredo, but it is a very good dish, and remarkably easy to make. Also, the sauce is purposely thick because I like it that way =P, just add more liquid ingredient if you want it thinned!

NOTES

This may be varied by substituting cooked lobster meat for the crab, or by adding 36 cooked, peeled and deveined medium shrimp, and about a quarter of a cup of chopped cooked broccoli instead of the crab meat.

Thank you for staying with this post “garlic linguini alfredo red lobster” until the end.
