Chicken is the most common type of poultry in the world.[1] Owing to the relative ease and low cost of raising chickens—in comparison to mammals such as cattle or hogs—chicken meat (commonly called just “chicken“) and chicken eggs have become prevalent in numerous cuisines.
Chicken can be prepared in a vast range of ways, including baking, grilling, barbecuing, frying, and boiling. Since the latter half of the 20th century, prepared chicken has become a staple of fast food. Chicken is sometimes cited as being more healthful than red meat, with lower concentrations of cholesterol and saturated fat.[2]
The poultry farming industry that accounts for chicken production takes on a range of forms across different parts of the world. In developed countries, chickens are typically subject to intensive farming methods while less-developed areas raise chickens using more traditional farming techniques. The United Nations estimates there to be 19 billion chickens on Earth today, making them outnumber humans more than two to one.[3]
Layer the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
Pour the salad dressing over the chicken breasts completely coating.
Cook for 4-6 hours on high, 8-10 hours on low.

Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray 13×9-inch pan with cooking spray.
Layer chicken breasts in a glass baking dish.
Pour the salad dressing over the chicken breasts, completely coating.
Cover with foil; bake 20 minutes. Turn chicken; bake uncovered 20 to 30 minutes longer or until juice of chicken is clear when center of thickest part is cut.
For Stovetop:
Spray a large heavy skillet with cooking spray, place on medium high heat and brown chicken. When browned on both sides, pour in the Salad Dressing and simmer, turning chicken once, until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes longer.

Variations Ideas:
There are lots of ideas for this yummy crockpot recipe. Depending on what your family enjoys, you can add lots of other ingredients.
Add in some Carrots – We like to add carrots to the crock pot.
Make Cream Sauce – You can also add cream cheese and that makes an amazing creamy sauce. You can add in some cream of chicken soup.
Just Cook the Chicken – Cook the chicken and Italian Dressing and omit the potatoes and serve this dish over rice.
Add in Peppers – I also have thrown in a bell pepper and it goes really well with the onion. Mushrooms would also a good addition to this one pot meal.
Use Chicken Thighs – I bet you could also substitute chicken thighs instead of the chicken breast. There are lots of great ways to enjoy this meal.
Shred the Chicken – You can shred the chicken or serve as a whole chicken breast.
Potato Variety – We used red potatoes in this recipe, but you can use yukon gold potatoes or russet potatoes.
Place the chicken, salad dressing, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic, and potatoes in a 3- to 4-quart crockpot. Mix well to coat the chicken and potatoes with the dressing and seasonings.
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked to 165 F and the potatoes are tender.
Serve with a vegetable side dish and enjoy.
Tips
If you don’t have Italian seasoning, use a combination of dried herbs you have on hand to make your own. Oregano, basil, thyme, sage, marjoram, and rosemary work best.
If your chicken has skin on it, remove it before placing it in the crock pot. The slow, moist heat will turn the skin rubbery and unpleasant to eat.
