Hello. Welcome to solsarin. This post is about “where does dave matthews live“.

Dave Matthews

David John Matthews (born January 9, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and record label owner. He is best known as the lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band (DMB). Matthews was born in Johannesburg, and moved frequently among South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States while growing up. Matthews started playing acoustic guitar at the age of nine.

From 1991 to 2003, Matthews predominantly focused on songwriting and performing with the Dave Matthews Band, which he started in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1991. He also has done various solo performances and produced other records. During the period from 2000 to 2010, his band sold more tickets and earned more money than any other act in North America. The band’s 2012 album Away from the World made them the only group to have six consecutive studio albums debut at number one on the Billboard charts. This record was extended to seven consecutive number one albums with the 2018 release, Come Tomorrow.

2004

In addition to music, Matthews has had multiple acting roles. He has also won two Grammy Awards: one with the Dave Matthews Band in 1997 for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group (“So Much to Say”) and one in 2004 for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance (“Gravedigger”) from his solo album.

Early life

David John Matthews was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the third of four children of parents John and Valerie Matthews. At the age of two years, Matthews’ family moved to Yorktown Heights in Westchester County, New York, where his father, a physicist, started working for IBM.

In 1974, the family moved to Cambridge, England for a year before returning to New York, where his father died from lung cancer in 1977. Biographer Nevin Martell argues that Dave’s father’s death may be an impetus for his carpe diem lyrics. At some point while residing in New York, Matthews attended his first concert, when his mother took him to a performance by Pete Seeger. The family returned to Johannesburg in 1977.

Upon Matthews’ graduation from St Stithians College high school in 1985, he was faced with conscription into the South African military just as civil disobedience to the practice was becoming widespread. A Quaker (and consequently pacifist), Matthews left South Africa to avoid service.

Dave Matthews Lives in a 3-Bedroom, 2-Bath House in Seattle With His Wife and Three Kids

Matthews bought a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house in the Wallingford area of Seattle in July 2001. At the time he paid $360,000 for the home, according to Realtor.com. Now the 2,180 square foot home is estimated to be worth $1,046,200.

Matthews lives in the Seattle suburb with his wife, Ashley, who he married in 2000 after dating for eight years, according to Biography. The two had twin daughters, Stella and Grace, who were born in August 2001, and a son, Oliver, born in 2007.

The home is barely visible behind mature trees, affording the family privacy.

In 2012, Matthews told Gene Stout, A Pop Music Critic for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, “We really do love Seattle, and we’ve got a great community up there. It’s a great city . . . For the most part, I feel comfortably middle class in Seattle.”

Matthews is said to be worth $300 million according to Celebrity Net Worth.

He Also has Properties in Virginia Including a Winery

The singer-songwriter is originally from South Africa, but he moved to the U.S. with his parents and siblings when he was two. The family lived in Charlottesville, Virginia. Matthews grew up in that city but traveled back to South Africa in his teens and spent some time in school there.

Matthews is said to be one of the largest property owners in Virginia. Celebrity Net Worth reports that the singer-songwriter “owns hundreds, potentially thousands of acres in Virginia, primarily around Charlottesville. He has also worked with local governments to acquire many acres of what has become public land.”

According to Food and Wine, “Matthews has put a chunk of money—his earnings have been estimated to be more than $20 million a year—into buying 1,260 acres of farmland near his Charlottesville home and slowly restoring it to meet organic growing standards. He purchased the land simply to keep it from developers.”

Part of those land purchases included an 18th-century farm called Blenheim that he bought in 1999 and turned into a winery, which is run by a staff who produce 5,500 cases of wine per year. Blenheim Vineyards signature wine is Petit Verdot, but special edition wines are released occasionally that have labels drawn by Matthews, Food and Wine reported.

1991

THOUGH THE BAND FORMED IN A VIRGINIA COLLEGE TOWN back in 1991, Dave Matthews has been a Seattle resident since Bush II’s first term. His eponymous band has sold more than 33 million records, right behind Bob Dylan and Queen on lists of the best-selling recording artists of all time.

If you want to know about “what is a gusseted crotch“, click on it.

In 2014, Billboard marked them the seventh most successful touring band since 1990, noting their then-$777 million gross haul—it’s probably around a billion by now—outpaced Paul McCartney and Metallica. The Recording Industry Association of America ranks the Dave Matthews Band in their top 50, with gold and platinum stats similar to U2’s.

The only Seattle band—and we’ll get to DMB’s Emerald City bona fides in a second—that comes close to that longevity or success is one that formed a year earlier than Matthews’s crew: Pearl Jam. And while no one’s going to deny that Eddie Vedder and Co. are a quintessential Seattle outfit, before this year’s Home Shows at Safeco Field they hadn’t played the city in five years.

Both are wildly successful music acts, the top 1 percent of 1 percent of dudes who sing songs for a living. But if you believe the stats on the internet—big grain of salt here—Eddie Vedder has a net worth of $100 million, but Dave Matthews is sitting on three times that.

Come Tomorrow

The Dave Matthews Band is among the world’s most successful groups in popular music. Their first new album in six years, “Come Tomorrow,” was released last June. It was a record-setting seventh in a row to debut at #1. But for all its fame, The Dave Matthews Band hasn’t forgotten the city of Charlottesville, Virginia, where it all began.

No matter how loudly the crowd cheers wherever the band performs, there is something about playing in Charlottesville that keeps frontman Dave Matthews grounded: “It’s always harder to play at home. It’s a weird thing. It always is a homecoming. It’s always joyful, but you always want to do better.”

Though he now lives out West, Matthews says his roots remain here, where his eponymous band began its ascent to the top of the Billboard charts in the early 1990s.

“I wrote a lot of my songs in that pink warehouse,” he said while visiting with “CBS This Morning” co-host John Dickerson. “ And I couldn’t have begged to have a greater experience than play in this band, in my life, really. I want some other experiences, but I don’t feel like I’m entitled to them because, Jesus, how can this happen to one person?”

His House

The Grammy-winning lead vocalist and guitarist for the “Dave Matthews Band” records here at his “Haunted Hollow” studio. An occasional actor, he has also appeared in 3 feature films to date. In addition to the 3 parcels he owns adjacent and including this studio, he co-owns nearby Blenheim Vineyards, and over 1,000 acres of farmland near Scottsville (VA). His other part-time residence in Seattle (WA) is also featured on this site.

Music Man Dave Matthews Buys Malibu Estate for $6.575 Million

Dave Matthews, the musician who has seen off-the-charts success as frontman of “The Dave Matthews Band,” has just put some of that music money to work — the singer just paid $6,575,000 for a six-bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom estate in Malibu, according to The Real Estalker. That’s mere pocket change for a guy whose band is one the highest grossing groups of all time. During the period from 2000 to 2010, the Dave Matthews Band sold more tickets and earned more money than any other act in North America. Even more than ‘N Sync, Britney Spears, and the rest of the red-hot pop stars of that time.

7,000 square

Since Matthews has made big money in the music biz, he’s investing in real estate. This most recent purchase is a ‘European Country Estate’ in a prime Malibu location. Situated on 1.78 acres of rare flat land in the sought after Point Dume area, the newly renovated home clocks in at approximately 7,000 square feet. The property also features a pool, spa, and Riviera III beach rights down to Little Dume Beach. Additionally, the estate comes with active plans and permits with the City of Malibu for a 900-square-foot guest house — a recording studio, perhaps? Extensive gardens and an apple orchard round out the large parcel’s lush grounds, which also offer plenty of space for a tennis court and/or horses.

Matthews also owns a modest home in Seattle, Washington, and 11 homes in and around Charlottesville, Virginia.
