Hello and welcome to solsarin. This post is about “hawaiian roll sliders air fryer“.

Ham

Ham is pork from a leg cut that has been preserved by wet or dry curing, with or without smoking.[1] As a processed meat, the term “ham” includes both whole cuts of meat and ones that have been mechanically formed.

Ham is made around the world, including a number of regional specialties, such as Westphalian ham and some varieties of Spanish jamón. In addition, numerous ham products have specific geographical naming protection, such as prosciutto di Parma in Europe, and Smithfield ham in the US.

AIR FRYER HAM AND CHEESE SLIDERS

I love making these small ham and cheese sandwiches with King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls. They are the perfect bread roll to go with ham and swiss cheese.

These sliders are also a perfect way to feed visiting families, when using leftover holiday ham.

Besides an air fryer, the ingredients you need to make these sliders are:

  • Hawaiian Style Rolls
  • slices of ham
  • Cheese slices
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Butter
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Poppy seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

    • Cut the Hawaiian Rolls in half. Spread mustard on one side of the roll, and mayonnaise on the other side.
  • Fold the slices of cheese and then cut in half. Next, place them on the bottom piece of bread and then top with ham slices and then close the slider.

  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the brown sugar, Westchester sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and poppy seeds. Stir the ingredients together.
  • Place the rolls, in a single layer, in the air fryer basket, without stacking. Brush the sauce over the rolls.
  • Return the air fryer basket into the air fryer and air fry at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 to 8 minutes until the cheese has melted, and the sandwiches are golden brown.

Notes:

    • I have a basket style air fryer so if you have a rack, place the rolls on a baking sheet that will fit in your air fryer.
  • Wattage and size of air fryer may change the cooking time. You can add 1-2 minutes as needed, until the cheese is melted, and the bread is golden brown.

CAN I REHEAT LEFTOVER AIR FRYER SLIDERS?

Yes. Just place them back in the basket, and fry at 300°F for 3-5 minutes, until they are warm.

CAN I USE DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS FOR MEAT AND CHEESE?

If you want a meat lovers slider, you can add other deli meats and any type of cheese. You just need to heat them until you have melty cheese. You can do a variety of combination of cheeses too.

DO I HAVE TO ADD MUSTARD AND MAYONNAISE?

This became one of my favorite recipes when a friend made these with horseradish sauce instead of mustard and mayonnaise. They were just as delicious! This is such a simple recipe, you can really add almost any type sauces you like on your favorite foods, and it will be delicious!

WHY IS A SLIDER CALLED A SLIDER?

A slider really means a little miniature hamburger. The name originated back in 1940 when the US Navy would refer to their mini burgers as sliders because they were only 2 bites each, and they were very greasy.

The name started in the 1940’s when U.S. Navy sailors started calling small burgers sliders because of their greasiness! The bite size burgers are still popular today, and luckily, sometimes less greasy!

What are King’s Hawaiian rolls, and where do I find them in the grocery store

King’s Hawaiian rolls are soft and fluffy bread rolls that are made by the brand King’s Hawaiian. These rolls are sweet tasting and work so well as a slider bun. I even use these rolls for cheeseburger sliders. Sometimes I serve these delicious rolls as a bread side with dinner.

How to reheat leftover ham and cheese sliders in the air fryer

Absolutely, you can reheat leftover ham and cheese sliders in the air fryer. If you would like to reheat your sliders in the air fryer, here are the steps that you need to follow. Preheat your air fryer to 300 degrees. Once your air fryer is preheated, place your leftover ham and cheese sliders in the air fryer basket and reheat for 3 to 5 minutes. Watch your sliders carefully. Since you are just reheating your ham and cheese sliders, they can burn quickly. Remember, you are not cooking your sliders again. You are just reheating them. Once your sliders are warm, serve and enjoy.

Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Sliders

  • 1 Pound Sliced Ham
  • 1 Package Hawaiian Rolls
  • 8 Slices Swiss Cheese
  • 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Dash Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Poppy Seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Begin by slicing the entire set of Hawaiian rolls in half in the middle, do not pull them apart.
  • Once they are sliced in half, add mayo to both insides of the Hawaiian Rolls.
  • Top them with the sliced ham and cheese.
  • At this point, build them back together just like a typical sandwich, cut the section of rolls to fit your air fryer if the entire bunch will not fit in your air fryer. In our case, I cut them in half to cook in 2 batches. Once you have them cut to fit, go ahead and place in your air fryer.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter.
  • Whisk in the mustard, Worcestershire Sauce, and salt into the butter.
  • Use a brush to brush this mixture on the top of the rolls.
  • Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
  • Cook in the Air Fryer at 360*F for 5-8 minutes until the cheese is melted. Carefully remove and repeat if needed.
  • Pull apart and serve.
