Hawaiian rolls are a guilty pleasure of ours: buttery and so addictive. And these sliders, layered with ham, Swiss, and caramelized onions, will quickly become a MUST at any party you throw.
Besides being a sure hit with guests, these slider rolls are great party food because they are so easy to put together. Split the rolls, layer them, bake them, and in just a few minutes you have a dozen hot, mind-blowing sandwiches.
Hawaiian rolls were invented by Robert Taira, the Hawaiian-born son of Japanese immigrants who opened a bakery in Hilo in the mid-1950’s. Soft, fluffy, and just slightly sweet, the rolls quickly became so popular that Tairo expanded his business to Honolulu, and then to California.
On the inside, the Honey Dijon is (semi) homemade, and the outside is topped with creamy Poppyseed dressing. Definitely a flavor bomb! You can make them with just a few ingredients.
You’ll find two flavors of Hawaiian rolls at the store – savory butter and original sweet. I have tried both methods to make these Pioneer Woman Hawaiian Roll Sliders. They are both delicious!
Personally, I prefer the savory butter flavor. Combined with the sweetness of the ham, the original sweet rolls can be a little too sweet for me.
For a quicker cook time, I use an air fryer to make Pioneer Woman Hawaiian Roll Sliders. It’s one of the simplest air fryer recipes!

Using a serrated knife cut Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, making sure to keep the top and bottom slabs together. My family loves to eat these sliders as leftovers, so this recipe calls for 1 1/2 packages (24 mini sliders) of Hawaiian rolls. You can easily cut the recipe down by only using one package of 16 rolls.
Start by lightly greasing a 9×13 baking dish and placing the bottom slab of rolls into the pan. Add an even layer of deli ham to the bottom slab of rolls, then scrambled eggs, sliced cheddar cheese, and add the top slab of Hawaiian rolls.
This Breakfast slider recipe has the best maple syrup glaze that will take these ham, egg, and cheese sliders to the next level. In a small microwave safe mixing bowl add butter and maple syrup. Microwave for 30-45 seconds or until butter is melted. Spoon maple syrup glaze evenly over the top of the Hawaiian rolls, cover and bake in a preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove cover and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes. Cut into individual sliders and serve immediately!
You will be surprised to see how simple and easy it is to make these sliders. You need the following ingredients:
Preheat the oven to 350F. Mix melted butter, garlic and onion powder, mustard and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl and set aside. Cut the Hawaiian rolls or slider buns in half and separate the tops from the bottoms. Place the bottoms in a 9×13 baking pan or on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Spread a little bit of the melted butter mixture on the rolls. Top with half of the roast beef and then top with cheese. Add another layer of roast beef and finish with the top layer of the Hawaiian rolls.
Brush the melted butter spread on the Hawaiian rolls, cover with aluminum foil and bake in the oven. If desired, top with some sesame seeds or poppy seeds. Bake uncovered for some minutes, cut and serve immediately.
It usually takes about 12 to 15 minutes to bake these roast beef Hawaiian rolls. I usually bake them for about 12 minutes covered and 3-5 minutes uncovered. When you’re baking them uncovered, make sure they’re not getting too dry.
