Hello & welcome to our site solsarin. This topic is about “Medium Rare Steak in Air Fryer” that it is really interesting. So, you can increase your information and then share your idea.
An air fryer is a small countertop convection oven designed to simulate deep frying without submerging the food in oil. A fan circulates hot air at high speed, producing a crisp layer via browning reactions such as the Maillard reaction. Some product reviewers find that regular convection ovens or convection toaster ovens produce better results, or say that air frying is essentially the same as convection baking.
How to Cook Steak in Your Air Fryer
Air fryer recipes are more than just fried food. This air fryer steak is as good as one you make on the grill.
I don’t know about you, but we’ve been swept up in the air fryer craze. Our Test Kitchen even named the best air fryer! The tabletop convection ovens are amazing, circulating hot air around your food until it gets a crisp exterior—just like a fryer, but with a whole lot less oil.
Faux-frying is what most people are using these gadgets for, but don’t stop there. You can air-fry some surprising foods, including steak. (See our complete air fryer guide.)
Because the temperatures inside the air fryer are so consistent, your steak will turn out perfect, every time. It’s an ideal scenario when the weather isn’t cooperating and you can’t hit the grill.
How long do you cook a steak for a medium-rare?
Rare: 1½ mins per side. Medium rare: 2 mins per side. Medium: About 2¼ mins per side. Well-done steak: Cook for about 4-5 mins each side, depending on thickness.
How do you know when a steak is medium-rare?
If you’d like your steak medium-rare, it should feel like your cheek: tender and soft but still fleshy (as opposed to raw, which would be just soft). If you want a medium steak, touch your chin: The steak should still be tender, but with some resistance.
What temperature do you cook medium-rare steak?
Follow this guide to find your perfect doneness: Rare: 125 degrees F + 3 minute rest off the heat. Medium-Rare: 130 to 135 degrees F. Medium: 135 to 140 degrees F. Medium-Well: 140 to 150 degrees F. Well-Done: 155 degrees F +.
Is medium rare steak raw?
The steak is not raw meat but cooked gently on the outside. There are three categories of medium steaks – Medium Rare, Medium and Medium Well. Medium rare steaks have a seared, brown outside and a reddish pink inside. A medium cooked steak is more of a gray-brown color and a pink band in the center.
Can you put foil in an air fryer?
They use hot air instead of actual microwaves to create heat, so putting foil in an air fryer doesn’t cause the same alarming spark show. That’s because air fryers work by circulating hot air, which originates at the bottom of the fryer. Lining it with foil can constrict the air flow and your food won’t cook properly.
Air Fryer Steak

This air fryer steak recipe can save your house from a smoke-filled searing episode and still deliver a crusty, perfectly cooked steak. Pair with a potato side, and you’re on your way to a hearty meal.
What temperature should I cook steak to?
This depends on personal taste! See the list below to see what you should look for on your thermometer when cooking a steak.
Well-done: Anything beyond 165ºF
How to Make Air Fryer Steak
- A 1-inch thick boneless ribeye or New York strip steak
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Step 1: Prep the steak
Start by rubbing the steak all over with the olive oil. This isn’t a necessary step when cooking a steak on the grill or in a cast-iron pan, but in an air fryer, the steak’s surface has the best chance of caramelizing and creating a crust if it’s coated in oil.
Sprinkle the steak generously with the kosher salt and pepper. Then, let the seasoned steak sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to take the chill off.
Step 2: Preheat the air fryer
Some air fryers have a steak setting, but we don’t recommend using it. These settings don’t allow you to customize the cook time, and they might be calibrated for bone-in steaks, which take longer than boneless cuts. We like to preheat the air fryer on the regular setting to 400° F. Let the air fryer preheat for about three minutes before moving on.
Step 3: Cook the steak
Add the steak to the air fryer basket and cook it for about 7 to 9 minutes for a medium-rare steak or 10 to 14 minutes for medium, flipping the steak halfway through. When the steak is finished cooking, let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

- Flank Steak: Flank steak is a lean cut of meat that comes from the belly of the cow. It has a delicious, rich flavor and is best served in thinly cut slices!
- Olive Oil: Helps all of the seasonings in the marinade stick.
- Lime and Orange Juice: The acidity in citrus juices help to tenderize and break down connective tissues.
- Soy Sauce: The perfect savory base for the marinade.
- Minced Garlic: For a punch of savory goodness.
- Spices: I used a blend of oregano, chili powder, and cumin for mouthwatering aromatics and warm spice!
- Salt and Black Pepper: Add an additional layer of flavor.
How to Make Flank Steak in the Air Fryer
It doesn’t get any easier than this! Air fryer flank steak sears up perfectly in minutes- with no mess!
- Place Steak in Bag: First, place the flank steak in a gallon-sized sealable bag and set it aside.
- Prepare Marinade: In a medium bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients listed and whisk until combined.
- Add Marinade to Bag: Pour the marinade into the bag with the flank steak. Seal tightly removing any excess air. Store in the refrigerator and marinate for at least 20 minutes or as long as overnight.
- The longer you can marinate the meat, the more flavorful and tender it will be. Turn the bag occasionally making sure it is marinating evenly on all sides.
- Drain: When you are ready to air fry the meat, drain the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
- Air Fry: Preheat the air fryer to 400° Farenheit. Add the steak to the preheated air fryer basket and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side only flipping once. Cook time depends on the thickness of your steak. Cook until the internal temperature reads 140-145° Fahrenheit or 130° Farhenheit for medium-rare. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and Enjoy: Thinly slice steak against the grain and serve.
